Job Details Job Summary: The Occupational Health Nurse provides nursing care within the scope of RN practice for injury evaluation and management, drug screen collection, health risk assessment, and ensuring compliance with the regulatory bodies. The Occupational Health Nurse will work with both internal and external clients. Job Functions and Duties:· Provides initial assessment of on the job injuries and illnesses, reports positive findings to provider and follows through with orders received. Refers for further evaluation as necessary.· Provides appropriate care, treatment, pre-placement exams and follow-up of work related injuries based on knowledge of specific work environment.· Participates collaboratively with other WorkHealth staff on special projects/studies.· Collaborates with staff to identify educational needs specific to the practice and makes those offerings available.· Participates in the management of annual TB testing, screening of workers with positive PPDs per the Tuberculosis Control Plans.· Assists with the coordination and scheduling of the annual influenza vaccination programs.· Performs and documents results of point of care testing and appropriate interventions, EKG's, visual acuity, audiometry, spirometry, urine drug screen, wound dressings, ear irrigations and other necessary testing.· Collaborates with Infection Control Department to coordinate the work up and treatment of workers exposed to infectious diseases, including blood borne pathogen, TB, pertussis, meningitis...Note: the duties listed above reflect the majority of the duties of this job and does not, nor is it intended to, reflect all duties that may be required for an incumbent in this job to perform.Job Requirements:· Bachelor of Science in Nursing, preferred. Current Maine RN license or eligible to obtain, required.· Certified Occupational Health Nurse (COHN) preferred.·At leasttwo years'nursing experience required; physician practice or occupational health experience, preferred. Familiarity with immunization schedules and regulatory requirements, as they pertain to Employee and Occupational Health, a plus.Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities· Excellent verbal and written skills; independent thinker, ability and desire to work collaboratively· Computer skills (word processing/excel/database), required. · Ability to work and be comfortable with the electronic medical record. · Experience with data collection, analysis, documenting and reporting a plus.· Point of Care Testing; Certifications required, or to be obtained within 6 – 9 months of hire in: BLS, Mantoux Tuberculin Skin Testing, Spirometry (NIOSH) and Audiometry Testing, Urine and Drug Collection, Breath Alcohol.· Knowledge of infectious diseases and of worker's compensation laws are helpful.
