Pregnancy in patients with pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH) is linked to several risks. Women of childbearing age are often encouraged to avoid pregnancy. But when pregnancy does occur, how can clinicians balance improvement of outcomes with considerations for the maternal and fetal health? Joining Dr. Charles Turck to discuss these issues and more is Dr. Evelyn Hermes-DeSantis, director of the Drug Information Service at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick, New Jersey, and clinical associate professor at the Ernest Mario School of Pharmacy at Rutgers, the State University of New Jersey.

Charles J Turck, Pharm.D., BCPS, is a pharmacist at UMass Memorial Medical Center and an adjunct clinical instructor at the Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences. He has completed a pharmacy practice residency at UMass as well as a specialty residency in Drug Information at Rutgers - The State University of New Jersey's Ernest Mario School of Pharmacy and Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, where Dr. Turck also served as chief pharmacy resident. Dr. Turck has led and collaborated on a variety of pharmacy- and drug-related topics and has several publications to his name. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy in 2003 and his Doctor in Pharmacy in 2004 from Midwestern University Chicago College of Pharmacy. Dr. Turck has been involved in the profession of pharmacy for over a decade, with humble beginnings as a pharmacy technician in 1996.
Dr. Evelyn Hermes-DeSantis is the director of the Drug Information Service at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick, New Jersey, and a clinical associate professor at the Ernest Mario School of Pharmacy at Rutgers, the State University of New Jersey.Dr. Hermes-DeSantis has published numerous articles and a book chapter, and lectures in a variety of areas including: gastrointestinal related disorders, glaucoma, drug-induced diseases and medication errors, dietary supplements, patient counseling. In addition to these areas, her research focuses in the area of provision of drug information services and the relationship between hospital and industrial pharmacy practice.She received her undergraduate and graduate degrees from Rutgers University. After completing a specialized residency in drug information practice at the Medical College of Virginia Hospital in Richmond, she practiced at the Drug Information Center at the University of Utah Hospital in Salt Lake City. Dr. Hermes-DeSantis returned to Rutgers in 1995 to assume a faculty position there. She is also a board-certified pharmacotherapy specialist.
