Flow chemistry is developing as an important enabling synthesis technology in the pharmaceutical industry. This role requires a combination of organic synthesis and flow chemistry insight to develop and deliver scalable solutions for the synthesis of key compounds. The successful candidate will join the Applied Synthesis Technologies Team within the Pfizer Medicinal Sciences organization to identify opportunities for problem resolution, or synthesis acceleration, through the implementation of flow chemistry. The role will also involve proposing, investigating and exploring new methodology to expand and enhance the impact of flow chemistry on the pre-POC portfolio. *Please note: a research summary is required with your application in order to be considered*
• Demonstrate expertise in the research and application of flow chemistry to small molecule synthesis by delivering scalable solutions through teamwork and individual problem solving skills. • Demonstrate an expert knowledge in synthetic organic chemistry. • Demonstrate a working knowledge of a breadth of partner synthetic technologies and advocate for the implementation of the most appropriate technology to resolve synthetic challenges. • Develop and experiment with new applications of flow chemistry (such as contiguous sequences, photochemistry, electrochemistry, etc.) to expand flow chemistry methods available to Medicinal Sciences. • Build a strong network with technology teams within Medicinal Sciences to allow a fluid transfer of technology solutions between groups and departments. • Represent the Applied Synthesis Technology group on cross line synthesis teams, advocating for the appropriate implementation of technology to solve synthetic challenges.
• Ph.D. in Organic Synthesis or Methodology with 0-4 years of experience, or M.Sc. with 6+ years of experience, with published examples of innovative problem solving. • Demonstrate a depth and breadth of knowledge in the design and execution of flow chemistry experiments. • Describe examples of working in a team environment to deliver successful problem resolution. • Experienced in the application of innovative methodologies for successful execution of highly challenging synthetic chemistry. • Proven track record of creative thinking and consistent delivery as demonstrated by publication/presentation records. #LI-SA1
