Administrative Coordinator
The Administrative Coordinator is instrumental to the overall functioning of the Education Department. The safety of the students, staff and visitors are among The Center's most important priorities. The active participation in The New England Center's Safety Program is a condition of employment.
Duties/Responsibilities
IEPs and Progress Reports
- Keep current in IEP regulations and with the Education Administrator, develop correspondence and training materials related to any regulatory or NECC-specific changes to IEPs and progress reports.
- Coordinate all IEP meetings for NECC's Intensive Instruction, Residential, Intermediate and Severe programs with the LEA or district representative and communicate with NECC staff.
- Conduct an administrative review of IEP drafts and proposals, ensuring content is complete and clear, and consistent with DESE regulations and NECC standards.
- Coordinate the timely mailing of IEP proposals to LEA within established guidelines.
- Audit quarterly reports of progress and monitor for adherence to submission timelines
- Maintain and update the NECC Education Calendar, as necessary.
- Update NECC student database with IEP and re-evaluation dates.
- Maintain and update databases and documentation systems on IEP components and department-related tasks.
- Communicate with all NECC team members information related to implementation of Evaluations and IEPs (such as when consent was received for Assessments, and when IEP response and placement pages have been received).
- Bring issues to the attention of the Education Administrator and Director of Education for quick action or resolution.
- With the Education Administrator, monitor and provide feedback to staff related to regulatory or NECC-specific content guidelines.
Assessments
- Keep current in federal and state assessment regulations and with the Education Administrator, develop correspondence and training materials related to any regulatory or NECC-specific changes to mandated testing/assessments.
- With the Education Administrator, coordinate, monitor, and implement standard state assessments (MCAS with / without Accommodations) for NECC students from Massachusetts.
- With the Education Administrator, coordinate, monitor (including administrative reviews of) alternate assessments (MCAS-Alt) for NECC students from Massachusetts.
- With the Education Administrator, coordinate and monitor the implementation of alternate assessments for NECC students from states other than Massachusetts.
Additional responsibilities may be assigned as needed to assist with department functioning; these may include, but are not limited to
- Organization of the student library and library events
- Organization of academic resource materials
- Staff department-sponsored events, such as the bookfair, HSS and Science enrichment units, Science Fair and field trips.
- Collect and summarize data for department-related tasks
- Attend and summarize state led meetings that may affect the educational services at NECC, such as DESE or MAAPS meetings.
Education/Experience
- Masters degree in Special Education preferred
- Experience with administrative structure and educational content, preferably at Master'sNECC
- Experience with, or willingness to learn MA Special Education Regulations
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy
- Ability to handle confidential information with discretion and professionalism
- Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work collaboratively with NECC staff and external partners (e.g., district representatives)
