- POSITION STANDARDS

- Licensed and National Registered (EMT-A) Emergency Medical Technician Advanced certi?cation from the New Hampshire Bureau of Emergency Medical (NHBEMS) required.
- One year of previous experience in office, outpatient ambulatory or acute care setting strongly preferred.
- Excellent communication skills desired with the ability to work collaboratively as member of multi-disciplinary team.
- Demonstrates excellent customer service skills.
- Current BCLS certification required upon hire.

- PART TWO: FUNCTIONAL RESPONSIBILITY
- Position Objective
- The Express Care EMT-A provides patient care and operational support for patients in the Express Care unit which is a licensed Urgent Care. The EMT-A functions as an integral part of a multidisciplinary team and must be able to prioritize and manage multiple responsibilities while demonstrating excellent communication skills.
- Performance Expectation

- Demonstrates competency to insert, remove, and provide care and maintenance of IV lines
- Demonstrates competency in monitoring of IV therapies
- Establishes relevant evidence-based and safe interventions and priorities when providing care, including administering of medications within the defined terms set by the organization.
- Collaborates effectively with patient, patient's significant others, and members of the health care team to achieve optimal patient outcomes. Including communicating a patient status through verbal, electronic, and written means with other health care providers, and takes appropriate action for patient wellbeing.
- Collects and documents data in express care records including but not limited to vital signs (blood pressure, pulse, respirations, temperature, oxygen saturation, height/weight and peak flows).
- Observes patient to recognize care needs. Implements care/interventions directly when needed (physical, social or emotional) or indirectly by collaboration with nursing team members, physicians or members of other health care disciplines.
- Follows complaint base protocols and take orders directly from the providers.
- Assist with patient transport.
- Collect and process specimens according to APD policies and procedures.
- Assist and chaperone clinicians during examinations, procedures and treatments, if applicable
- Perform and document clinical procedures per established policies, practice standards and guidelines.
- Maintain the cleanliness and general appearance of work, examination, and treatment areas; clean, disinfect, sterilize, and maintain equipment and instruments following universal precautions, infection control, and hazardous waste removal practices.
- Stock exam/treatment rooms, order equipment and supplies according to organization and practice guidelines, and maintain adequate quantities to meet practice demands; dispose of contaminated supplies and materials in the prescribed manner.
- Performs routine (daily/ weekly/ monthly) cleaning and calibration checks for medical equipment.
