Job Description:
This position will offer a generous sign-on bonus! Position Summary APC patient care coordinator’s primary focus is to assist nurse navigator and in-office dispensary staff. They can be central point in coordinating communication with all urology practices and provide assistance as needed. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Orchestrate Financial ProcessingPrior Authorizations/AppealsBilling/Coding and Patient Co-PaymentsManufactured Assistance ProgramsBenefit VerificationCopay Assistance (Commercial)Free Drug AssistancePatient Assistance Programs (Government funded)Copayment Assistance (Medicare/Medicaid/Tricare) Oversee the Care Coordination PlanSchedulingOral AdherenceMaintaining Accreditation (ACHC)Patient EducationOngoing communicationResponding to patient questionsFinancial counselingAssess Patient Satisfaction Measure AdministrativeFamiliarity with medical terminology, insurance coverage, and patient’s chartsWork through task lists, email, patient portal and phone from various offices to coordinate information and patient care delivery.Complete and return all forms and documents relative to patient and coordination with pharmaceuticalsPerform Financial Counseling based on patient’s benefit profile ensuring complete understanding of care and costsFollow up with patients and or physicians on coordination Supervisory Requirements This position has not supervisory requirements. Education RequirementsRequired: High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or equivalent combination of education and experience. ExperienceRequired: High school diploma or general education degree; or equivalent combination of education and experience.At least 3 years’ experience to successfully perform this job.Experience in insurance verification or prior authorization is highly preferred. Additional Qualifications To perform this job successfully, an individual should have the following general knowledge:Professional attitudes sufficient to demonstrate honest, ethical and compassionate behavior, take responsibility for own actions and be forthright about errors or uncertainty, display flexibility, function effectively under stress, adapt to changing environments, and function as an active cooperative member of the health care team.Great understanding and excellent knowledge of claims processes, medical terminology, anatomy and physiology.Must be familiar with various insurance policies and regulations regarding prior authorizations and referrals for HMO plans.Ability to remain focused and productive, each day though tasks may be repetitive.Knowledgeable in current computer applications including new computer software and computer systems, proficient in Microsoft Office programs including, but not limited to Outlook, Word, Excel and Access, and be practiced in needed computer skills.Experience with rules and guidelines and extended amount of knowledge and familiarity with Medicare, Medicaid, and commercial insurance payers in Illinois.Excellent communication and customer service skills.Able to work in a high-volume, multiple task environment producing quality work. The contributors of the noise level are mainly copiers, computer equipment and phones which are presented in the office throughout the job duties.
