Apheresis Tech II

Job Overview:

Participates in review of donor card and laboratory test result audits. Reviews donor cards & laboratory test results for completeness and accuracy of information. Interprets possible "errors" that could cause product discard and refers to appropriate supervisor for correction or final disposition decision. Performs data input into the BCIS (Blood Services Information System) and verifies information in database. Maintains confidential blood services files and distribution records.

Generates and maintains other departmental reports and records as needed as they relate to product release and donor test results. Responsible for blood services standard procedure manuals, forms and the distribution of new procedures and/or forms in a timely manner. Performs blood product processing, labeling, and distribution. Provides administrative clerical support as necessary to the laboratory, collection, Quality Systems and administrative functions of the Blood Services.

Qualifications:
Required:

  • High School graduate or equivalent.


Preferred:

  • Phlebotomy and/or IV certification desirable.
  • Current CPR certification desirable.
  • National laboratory certification desirable.


Scheduling Requirements:

  • Per Diem
  • Variable Hours


Essential Functions:

  • Responsible for blood products collection and processing of blood products using automated and non-automated techniques for in-house and mobile drive operations in the state,
  • Provide medical screening of blood donors,
  • Observes donors for changes in condition and intervene appropriately,
  • Assists in blood donor registration and recruitment activities in the community,
  • Drives to various mobile blood drive sites in the state
