Job DescriptionPsychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-APRN) Family & Behavioral Health Department - New Port Richey, Florida General Description: The Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) or Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) will work with adults and children experiencing mental illness or psychological distress. Responsible for diagnosing, treating, providing psychiatric treatment, and helping prevent disorders of the mind in adults and children. The APRN/ PMHNP will provide psychotherapeutic and psychopharmacologic services at Premier Community HealthCare Group (PCHG). Essential Duties and Responsibilities: * Provides patient care that is compassionate, appropriate, and effective for the treatment of mental health problems and the promotion of mental health and wellbeing. * Assess, work-up, diagnose and provide psychiatric treatment and follow up care to patients of all age groups. * Adheres to all clinical protocols and actively participates in the improvement of Behavioral Health services. * Documents in a timely fashion accurate accounts of interactions with patients in Electronic Health Records in compliance with PCHG protocol. * Adheres to patient care needs and the core values of Premier Community HealthCare to provide a best-in-class patient experience. * Communicates any concerns about patient care issues or interpersonal difficulties. Follows proper chain of command and proper channels of communication. * Assists in orientating employees, along with all Behavioral Health Care Team members. * Ensure confidentiality and HIPAA compliance at all times * Keep other care team members informed when situations occur that disrupts timely patient flow through site. * Adhere to patient care needs and the core values of Premier Community HealthCare to a provide best-in-class patient experience * Work towards attaining department goals and drive Quality Improvement / Quality Assurance (QI/QA) * Other duties as assigned Supervisory responsibilities: None Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: * Strong interpersonal and communication skills that result in the effective exchange of information and collaboration with patients, their families, and other healthcare professionals. * Demonstrates the ability to work in a collegial and cooperative manner with others. * Knowledge of established and evolving biomedical, clinical, epidemiological, and social-behavioral sciences, as well as the application of this knowledge to patient care. Includes ongoing training and continuing medical education. * Ability to investigate and evaluate their care of patients, to appraise and assimilate scientific evidence, and to continuously improve patient care based on constant self-evaluation and life-long learning. Includes clinical judgment as well as technical and clinical skills. * Delivers a commitment to carrying out professional responsibilities and an adherence to ethical principles. * Demonstrates sensitivity and responsiveness to the gender identity, age, culture, religion, sexual orientation, socioeconomic status, beliefs, behaviors, and disabilities of others. * Utilizes resources efficiently and effectively. * Compliant with policies, clinical protocols, and guidelines; participates in performance improvement activities and provider-specific peer review activities. * Participates in al mandatory and other educational conferences that are job related. * Ability to manage crisis situations. * Works long hours when necessary to reach goals. * Knows location of policies and procedures and adheres to all policies as established. Assures and maintains patient confidentiality. Qualifications: * Master's degree from an accredited Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant Program with a clinical specialty area of Family Medicine or Psychiatric Mental Health * Current Florida APRN or PA License * Minimum of three (3) years' experience as an Advanced Practitioner preferred * Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification Working conditions and physical requirements: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
