Assistant Nurse Manager - ICU

Position Overview
The Assistant Nurse Manager plays an integral role in supporting the management of nursing services, ensuring the delivery of high-quality patient care, and fostering a collaborative and positive work environment. This role works closely with the Director of Inpatient Nursing, Nurse Manager, nursing staff, and other healthcare professionals to uphold and enhance care standards within the facility.

Key Responsibilities
• Assist in the oversight and management of nursing services, ensuring high-quality patient care and a positive work environment.
• Communicate effectively with patients, families, staff, and leadership to maintain safe, compassionate care.
• Support and collaborate with nursing teams to improve patient outcomes and ensure adherence to protocols.
• Respond to patient emergencies and changes in condition swiftly, ensuring appropriate interventions.
• Assist in managing the nursing department, including delegating tasks and overseeing day-to-day activities.
• Provide direct nursing care under the supervision of the Nurse Manager and other leadership.
• Foster a supportive, team-oriented environment to maintain high standards of patient care.

Position Requirements
Minimum Education
• Associate's Degree in Nursing required; Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.

Experience
• At least two years of registered nursing experience is highly preferred.

Required Registration/License/Certification
• Current, valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of North Carolina.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association at the time of hire.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
• Strong organizational, leadership, and communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple responsibilities in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
• Knowledge of healthcare regulations, standards, and accreditation requirements.
• Excellent interpersonal skills, with a compassionate approach to patient care.
• Ability to prioritize tasks and delegate effectively within nursing teams.
• Competent in delivering safe, effective care within the scope of practice and hospital policies.
• Strong commitment to customer service and patient satisfaction.

Physical Demands
• Ability to lift, position, transfer, and carry patients up to 50 pounds or more.
• Requires manual dexterity and mobility for patient care tasks.
• Prolonged periods of standing, walking, sitting, and movement.
• Frequent bending, squatting, twisting, turning, and reaching.
• Ability to see clearly at distances of 20 inches or less.

Working Conditions
• Regular exposure to bloodborne pathogens, bodily fluids, and other infectious materials.
• Frequent exposure to electrical, mechanical, and environmental hazards.
• Occasional exposure to unpleasant odors, chemicals, and accidents.
• Ability to work flexible hours, including days, evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays.
• Continuous standing and walking for extended periods during shifts (greater than 8 hours).
