What We Do
This position can be based anywhere along the East Coast with the expectation of 1 week in our RTP office a month.

How you’ll contribute
The Manager/Associate Manager, Business & Corporate Development plays an integral role in the sourcing, evaluation and execution of business and corporate development transactions that create value for United Therapeutics. This role will enable the team to advance more opportunities in parallel, while maintaining a deep pipeline of further value-creating opportunities.
- Identify markets, companies, and products of potential strategic interest to UT
- Lead and support the overall product/transaction evaluation process, including clinical/scientific assessments, evaluation of the commercial opportunity, analysis of the competitive landscape, and financial modeling
- Establish operational objectives and work plans for internal due diligence teams and supplement internal assessments with input from external experts
- Represent UT in business discussions with biotechnology company management, venture capitalists, investment bankers, QOLs, and academic investigators
- Manage and/or support internal due diligence process. Lead and manage cross-functional interactions with Clinical, Non-Clinical, Commercial, Regulatory, Finance, Legal, and Manufacturing teams to conduct a detailed evaluation and execute on potential transactions.
- Manage timelines and ensure projects remain on schedule
- Conduct primary and secondary research to drive business development, strategic, and possible M&A activities
- Prepare reports and present business cases to management regarding potential transactions
- Structure and negotiate term sheets, including detailed comparator deal analysis and running valuation scenarios to align proposed terms
- Make recommendations to the executive management team regarding potential transactions based on due diligence assessment
- Support internal product development teams in management of current and future external collaborations
- Respond to inbound inquiries
- Perform other duties as assigned
For this role you will need
Associate Manager Minimum Requirements
- 2+ years of direct business development experience
- 2+ years of demonstrated experience in business development analytics, including market research, competitive data analysis, financial analysis, and crystallization of key business insights
- 2+ years of experience in a biopharma business development/corporate development role
- Ability to work independently to identify markets/companies/products that are appropriate partnering targets
- Ability to simultaneously complete a series of tasks relating to a broad range of transaction opportunities
- Ability to manage and motivate large cross-functional internal teams as part of a due diligence process
- Technical ability to evaluate mechanistic, preclinical, and clinical data related to drug candidates
- Strong financial analysis and company/drug forecasting skills
- Outstanding written and verbal communication skills
- Extreme attention to detail
- Demonstrated ability to perform due diligence and organize teams
- Self-starter attitude
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office - high proficiency in Excel
Associate Manager Preferred Qualifications
- Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in a relevant scientific / business discipline
Manager Minimum Requirements
- 4+ years of direct business development experience

- 4+ years of experience in a biopharma business development/corporate development role

Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree (MA/MS/MBA) in a relevant scientific and/or business discipline. Educational background must include formal scientific and business training with a minimum of a Master’s degree in one of those discipline
- Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in a relevant scientific / business discipline
