Senior Auditor

This critical position will report directly to the University Health Director of Internal Audit Services and will be responsible for completion of the annual work plan and management advisory projects. The selected candidate will direct and perform complex technical work requiring extensive knowledge of audit standards, procedures, techniques, internal control frameworks, governmental accounting principles, advanced information systems, and management concepts.

Responsibilities include planning, programming, performing, and reporting on operational, financial, contract, compliance, and IT audits. This role will also perform management advisory services and investigatory procedures relating to potential fraud, waste, and abuse encountered in ongoing engagements.

The ideal candidate will bring:

  • Strong internal auditing experience within complex organizations
  • The ability to confidently communicate findings and recommendations to leadership and executive stakeholders
  • Exceptional analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
  • Experience leading or supporting complex audit projects
  • Project management experience or exposure is a strong plus
  • The ability to build collaborative relationships while maintaining audit independence and objectivity

This position offers significant visibility across the organization and the opportunity to help drive operational excellence and continuous improvement throughout the health system.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, information systems, or equivalent from an accredited university required
  • Graduate degree preferred
  • CPA or CIA certification required
  • Additional professional designations such as CHIAP, CISA, CISSP, CHC, CICA, or CFE desired
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in internal audit, public accounting, or equivalent
  • Additional experience in financial accounting, financial analysis, management information systems, contract compliance, or healthcare compliance desired
  • Exceptional communication and people skills, both verbal and written
  • Strong understanding of automated systems and processes
