Bid Manager Healthcare

Key to our continued success is the hiring of a talented and experienced Bid Manager preferably someone who has navigated Bids and Proposals into the NHS and providers of healthcare. This is a remote based role with very limited travel to clients and office.

Role

Assemble and manage a bid process and team that has the skills to prepare and submit a winning bid, whilst taking ownership of the end-to-end bid process.

Manage an opportunity from initial identification of a customer requirement through to contract renewal strategy in collaboration with the Commercial/Sales lead. Significantly involved pre-RFP in collaboration with the Commercial/Sales team, supporting driving of the Capture Phase effort and ensuring all resources are aligned to the client's requirements long before the Bid and Pursuit Phase gets underway.

After bid submission, remain involved through the presentation and negotiation stages, ensuring all lessons learned take place and are fed back and implemented in collaboration with the team. Responsibilities include the introduction and implementation of all necessary bid procedures, governance, and processes.

This is a highly networked role that requires an ability to work under pressure and to challenging deadlines. Requires strong people management and commercial skills.

Essential Functions:

  • Manage the end-to-end bid process.
  • Manage a virtual bid team and inputs from the key stakeholders, internal and external, typically engaging with commercial/sales, marketing, product teams, finance, legal, information governance, service support and project management / delivery.
  • Work with the Commercial/Sales lead to develop a clear win strategy for each bid and ensure win themes are clear and compelling.
  • Work closely with a Solution Architect to develop a comprehensive solution in line with the customer bid requirements.
  • Support the Commercial/Sales lead in prep and review the commercial aspects of the bid, ensuring all products / services are included in the final price to the customer.
  • Risk tracking and management throughout the bid process.
  • Contributing to the written proposal - both in terms of content and presentation, such as providing guidance around the executive summary.
  • Manage the bid budget and monitor and report on overall performance against KPIs.
  • Ensure timescales are achieved at each step of the bid process, including all internal governance, while taking the initiative in setting realistic deadlines.
  • Ensure on-time submission of compliant and commercially sound bids.
  • Be the gate keeper on the Bid / No Bid upfront decision.
  • Co-ordinate and plan all client presentations required as part of the bid submission, with the team.
  • Drive continuous improvement, through post-bid reviews, both internally and with customers.



Education skills and experience required

  • Proven in-depth experience of bid management.
  • Experience on large bids (£2m-£50M) into the NHS/Department of Health would be an advantage
  • Ideally has a background of managing opportunities in Healthcare and public procurement and experience of bid management from opportunity identification through to project delivery, and will provide valuable input into value proposition development, opportunity qualification, win strategy, commercial discussions, and solution delivery.
  • Experience of bid management best practices coaching delivered for the teams involved in work on the proposals.
  • Experience of proposal storyboarding, bid content development and bid writing desirable but non-essential.
  • Proven team leadership skills in office-based and virtual work environments.
  • Must be an excellent communicator and comfortable working at CEO / Director Level (internal and external customer).
  • Excellent collaborator focused on building relationships with key stakeholders.
  • Will be fully conversant with the competitive marketplace.
  • Focused on delivering value for the client via differentiated solutions, curious about the clients and the business, looking for ways to improve the processes and outcomes.
  • Sound commercial understanding and profit and loss experience coupled with risk management skills.
  • Has the ability to manage complex, multi-workstream opportunities.
  • Solid understanding and management of internal governance procedures.
  • Microsoft Office literate.
  • Experience of working for or bidding with Public sector specifically Healthcare would be advantageous.
  • Must be eligible to work and live in the UK
