Position Summary:
Under general direction, the Biostatistician is responsible for analyzing data from public health surveillance, research or quality improvement activities. Assists in preparation of manuscripts and presents findings at national and international conferences. Provides leadership and guidance in biostatistics through consultation on the analysis and interpretation of studies.
Position Responsibilities:
Associate Biostatistician
Assist in the design and implementation of research, quality improvement and public health surveillance projects.
Assist in developing data collection protocols, data management, and ensuring data quality.
Clean, validate, and organize data for analysis.
Assist in the interpretation of statistical results and preparation of reports and presentations.
Maintain documentation of statistical methods and programming codes.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Biostatistician
Biostatistician I duties in addition to:
Conduct statistical analyses using appropriate methods and software packages.
Analyze and interpret complex datasets using advanced statistical methods.
Prepare statistical analysis plans and conduct statistical analyses using appropriate software.
Generate clear and concise reports and delivers presentations to communicate findings to stakeholders.
Provides statistical education and training and acts as a resource for ANTHC and ANMC staff for statistics-related needs such as data collection, data management and statistical analysis.
Senior Biostatistician
Biostatistician I and II duties in addition to:
Oversee multiple projects, ensuring adherence to timelines, quality standards, and regulatory requirements.
Provide advice to researchers or students regarding study design, sample size determination, power analysis, data management, analysis of data, and presentation of statistical information.
Provide statistical support in grant applications and manuscript preparation.
Contribute to the statistical aspects of the preparation of research proposals, assist in the selection of assessment instruments and contribute to the construction of questionnaires.
Contribute to academic papers, conference papers and/or posters, in particular to the statistical aspects of the above-mentioned.
Develop and validate statistical models for predictive and prognostic analyses.
Participates in relevant research meetings and serves as a member of relevant committees.
Serve as a subject matter expert at scientific conferences and meetings.
Mentors junior biostatisticians.
KNOWLEDGE and SKILLS

Ability to explain complex statistical concepts to non-statisticians.
Senior Biostatistician
Knowledge of complex statistical techniques and models.
Advanced knowledge of experimental design, sampling techniques, and data collection methods.
Ability to apply both standard statistical methods and to modify existing techniques to meet project goals.
Advanced skills in statistical programming languages (e.g., R, SAS, Python).
MINIMUM EDUCATION QUALIFICATION
Associate Biostatistician
Bachelor's degree in statistics, biostatistics, mathematics, or related field with at least 9 units of coursework in statistics. Progressively responsible professional work experience may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for college education.
Biostatistician and Senior Biostatistician
Master's degree in statistics, biostatistics, epidemiology, demography, or closely related field. Progressively responsible professional work experience may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for college education.
MINIMUM EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATION
Associate Biostatistician
Non-supervisory - No experience necessary.
Biostatistician
Non-supervisory - Two (2) years of experience in statistical analysis and data management. An equivalent combination of relevant education and/or training may be substituted for experience.
Contributing authorship in two (2) significant reports or publications in a public health-related field.
AND
Three (3) presentations at public health-related meetings or conferences in the past three (3) years.
Senior Biostatistician
Non-supervisory - Five (5) years of experience in statistical analysis, data management and data visualization. An equivalent combination of relevant education and/or training may be substituted for experience.
Contributing authorship in at least four (4) significant reports or publications.
AND
Five (5) presentations at public health-related meetings or conferences in the last three (3) years.
AND
Supervisory - Two (2) years involving employee supervision.
