Biostatistician III (Hybrid Schedule)

JOB SUMMARY The Biostatistician III provides academic leadership, making important intellectual contributions especially related to statistics. Also provides business leadership which includes the mentoring of junior level statisticians. Collaborates with clinical and non-clinical researchers and operational colleagues as part of an interdisciplinary team to design and conduct analytic studies; as well as interpret and report results. Provides statistically sound experimental and quasi-experimental designs and data analysis to meet project objectives in a responsive manner. Maintains current knowledge of new developments in statistics. Educates Baylor Scott & White on proper use and interpretation of statistics by developing and implementing statistical curriculum. WHAT IS EXPECTED (ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS) Manages the day-to-day activities of assigned research and/or operational projects as primary biostatistician to ensure an efficient operation of projects and achievement of goals towards successful completion in a responsive manner Collaborates with clinical and/or non-clinical investigators to design/conduct research and/or operational analyses directed towards improved patient care and health outcomes, in accordance with STEEEP domains Helps researchers develop appropriate study protocols. Collaborates with clinical and non-clinical investigators and other transdisciplinary team members on research proposals, grant submissions, research questionnaires and other measurement instruments, and data collection and management Supports or leads the dissemination of the research and/or operational analytic results to medical/scientific community through presentations and publications Plans and conducts lectures or continuing education courses for Baylor Scott & White that will keep them informed on up-to-date research and topics related to statistics in a clear, concise and professional manner as required Supports research and analytic activities for Baylor Scott & White as required. Develops, manages, and analyzes variety of research data employing appropriate sources, perform appropriate statistical analysis in accordance with study/analytic design, interpret results, and develop and distribute reports that communicate findings as necessary Provide statistical reviews of research papers and studies, maintain current knowledge of new developments in biostatistics by reviewing current literature, attend or participate in internal discussions with colleagues and educational programs, and participate in activities of professional organizations The information contained in this job description is intended to describe the essential job functions required of those assigned to this job. Ability to recognize which approaches and techniques are applicable and ability to find or develop an appropriate solution Knowledge in design and conduct of research and operational analytic studies required; including development of protocols and experimental treatment allocations (random and nonrandom), development and testing of hypotheses; knowledge of existing data sources with understanding of data management, and approaches to different types of missing data Evidence of scholarly activities including clinical, financial, behavioral, and statistically-based publications and research/analytics required Knowledge of statistical software, specifically SAS (R, STATA, or other equivalent software can be substituted) Sample size calculation experience required with consideration of treatment allocation (e.g., random vs. non-random, and unit of allocation) and analytic focus Lecturing experience preferred but not required Excellent written and oral communication Ability to work both independently and collaborate with transdisciplinary teams including clinical and non-clinical leaders Ability to provide academic and business leadership, including the mentoring of junior level statisticians

- EXPERIENCE - A minimum of 5 years experience required

- Experience working in Healthcare

- Familiarity with publication process
