CDS Interim Director

Remote/Onsite CDI Director

· Aligned with the organizational vision, the Director is responsible for leading and executing the departmental strategic plan, with the CDI Managers facilitating the operational activities. As a thought leader, the Director of CDI, will work in conjunction with the Executive Leadership to develop a best practice CDI program.

· In overseeing the CDI program, the Director works in close collaboration with Revenue Cycle Leaders and clinical peers throughout the organization, establishing "a culture of safety" with transparent and authentic communication for the CDI Dept. This position will work to strategically support CDI workflow standardization and process improvement efforts in alignment of overall system needs. The Director, in conjunction with the CDI Managers, will assess and analyze monthly CDI data and outcomes reports, reviewing performance trends and opportunities, escalating problematic issues, as necessary. The Director's success is also reflected in the interdepartmental relationships and activities accomplished through collaborating with Coding/HIM, Quality, UR, Denials Management, Medical Staff or Nursing and various clinical functions as cross-departmental opportunities arise.

· Able to breakdown raw information and undefined problems into specific workable components that in-turn clearly identifies the issues at hand. Makes logical conclusions, anticipates obstacles and considers different approaches that are relevant to the decision-making process. Identifies and acts upon opportunities. Motivates others during times of organizational stress, ambiguity, and change. Creates an environment that encourages prudent risk-taking, sharing of best practices, and alerting groups to alternative approaches.


· Bachelor's degree is desired, preferably in nursing, business, healthcare administration or a related field. Master's degree preferred.

· 7 or more years of relevant experience working with clinical documentation required.

· 5 years of previous leadership and supervisory experience required.

· Experience in either Health Information Management, Case Management, Utilization Review, Clinical Quality and Patient Safety, Regulatory and Compliance, and other areas of clinical operations and clinical administration.

· Certified Clinical Documentation Specialist (CCDS) certification is strongly preferred or Clinical Documentation Improvement Practitioner (CDIP

· Ability to effectively facilitate meetings and understand and present information to hospital client executives.

· Solid ability to analyze, interpret and present data in meaningful ways.

· Demonstrated ability to lead in a cross-functional, complex team environment that requires quick turnaround and quality output
