Chemist
Proposed Salary Range: $49,200 - $63,790 (Based on Experience)
Work Location: Onsite (No Remote or Hybrid) - One Panasonic Drive Columbus, GA 31907
Oversee chemical testing and production processes. Ensure all products meet quality standards. Adhere to safety regulations and protocols. Collaborate with other departments to optimize production efficiency with focus on quality. Asist with troubleshooting production issues related to raw materials and implement solutions. Conduct experiments/analysis to improve production processes along with raw material improvements. Analyze data and prepare detailed reports. Conducts laboratory tests to confirm materials and products to specifications. Assists with conducting cell evaluation.
A chemist should have the capability to read and interpret process information; and understand the impact their actions have on the quality objective.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Responsible for laboratory activities.
- Oversee chemical analysis
- Prepares samples and conducts BET Analysis using GEMINI VII equipment.
- Evaluates internal cell construction using imaging x-ray equipment.
- Confirms raw material components using SEM (scanning electron microscope).
- Confirms non-hazardous substances using EDX (Energy Dispersion X-ray)
- Assists with cell evaluation by confirming OCV/CCV/IR/Wt using QC Checker.
- Assists with cell inspection using microscope.
- Adhere to safety regulations and protocols.
- Troubleshoot material issues related to chemicals.
- Conduct experiments to improve material quality.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives.
- Incoming inspection raw materials (chemical related as needed).
- Assist in the development of new products.
- Responsible for preparing reports for above laboratory tests using Excel and PowerPoint.
- Interacts with QE members about quality concerns, as directed by QE Management.
- Audits the manufacturing processes as needed to ensure the continuity of established manufacturing and quality practices.
- Supports in quality assurance and inspection activities.
- Advises supervisor in a timely manner regarding any potential quality problem.
- Performs other duties in the QE department as assigned by QE Management.
- Makes suggestions for improving quality, safety, housekeeping, efficiency, and cost effectiveness.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:Bachelor's degree in chemistry or related field. Minimum of 1-3 years of experience in a production environment or related experience.
OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES:Computer literate. Proficiency in using laboratory equipment and software. Strong knowledge of chemical production processes. Ability to work with software programs such as Excel, PowerPoint, and Word for Windows.
LANGUAGE SKILLS:Good communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:Ability to apply advanced mathematical concepts such as exponents, logarithms, quadratic equations, and permutations. Ability to apply mathematical operations to such task as frequency distribution, determination of test reliability and sampling theory and factor analysis.
Ability to calculate figures and mounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area circumference and volumes. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
Must be familiar with Metric System of Weights and Measures and exhibit the ability to switch from English System to Metric System and vice versa.
REASONAL ABILITY:Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situation.
