Chemist II

Position Summary

We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Chemist II to join our team. This role involves performing advanced analytical testing using techniques such as FTIR, ICP-MS, LC-UV/LC-MS, and GC-FID/MS to support the development of new products. The ideal candidate will contribute to method development, laboratory instrumentation maintenance, and ensure compliance with industry standards. Additionally, the Chemist II will assist in preparing technical documentation, analyzing data, and supporting various laboratory activities to drive innovation and quality.
Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct qualitative and quantitative analyses of raw materials, in-process samples, and finished products using analytical techniques including FTIR, ICP-MS, LC-UV/LC-MS, GC-FID/MS, and others.
  • Develop, optimize, and validate analytical methods in line with regulatory requirements.
  • Support product development by executing analytical testing, compatibility studies, and development plans.
  • Apply a strong understanding of chemistry to troubleshoot analytical challenges, interpret data, and improve testing procedures.
  • Engage in exploratory research to generate new knowledge and contribute to the discovery of potential new products.
  • Develop research proposals that provide a sound technical and economic basis for new or improved products, processes, and testing methods.
  • Prepare, review, and maintain technical documents such as protocols, reports, and data sheets.
  • Ensure all analytical work complies with cGMP, regulatory standards, and laboratory safety practices, properly documenting variances.
  • Apply regulatory standards to drug and device testing as part of the quality assurance process.
  • Maintain laboratory instrumentation and support general laboratory functions.
  • Contribute to continuous process improvements and project decisions based on analytical findings.

Required Qualifications

  • Strong background in analytical chemistry with hands-on experience in method development and validation.
  • Knowledge of cGMP standards, laboratory safety, and regulatory testing procedures.
  • Experience in supporting product development through analytical methods.
  • Skilled in troubleshooting analytical challenges and interpreting complex data.
  • Proficiency in technical documentation including protocols, reports, and data sheets.
  • Familiarity with laboratory management software such as LIMS and Empower.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Professional proficiency in English (written and spoken).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working within regulated environments, especially in testing for pharmaceuticals or medical devices.
  • Comfort with integrating new analytical techniques and supporting exploratory research initiatives.
  • Strong understanding of physical and chemical testing methods.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
