Chief Technologist

Salary Range: $48.95 - $67.47

Pay rates are determined based on experience and internal equity.

Position Summary:

  • This position reports to the Director of Diagnostic Imaging.
  • This position acts as Department Director in the Directors absence.
  • Assists Director in evaluating new equipment and technology.
  • Has input into Radiologic Technologists evaluations.
  • Communicates with Director of any personnel issues or patient complaints.
  • Assists Director in strategic planning and development of the department of DI
  • Assumes Back up for the department when the Director is not available.
  • Must work well under stress or tight deadlines.
  • Must work well with supervisors, co-workers, patients/residents, family members and visitors.

Position Duties/Responsibility:

  • Schedules Technologists according to budget and to assure good work flow of daily operations
    • Ensures current protocols are followed and new protocols are understood
    • Monitors image quality and lends guidance and encouragement to ensure imaging excellence
  • Performs PACS/RIS administration functions
    • Maintains integrity between all Information Systems (RIS/PACS/HIS)
    • Utilizes data to proactively eliminate billing problems before they are dropped
    • Checks Pending Transcripts to make sure all cases are read in a timely manner
    • Coordinates with Admitting/ Office Manager/Radiologist to optimize workflow
    • Primary in-house resource for RIS training and questions
  • Safety- Radiation and General, patients and staff
    • Emergency Med Supplies for sufficiency and expiration
    • Repeat Analysis
    • Monitors Exposures to prevent Dose Creep
  • Performs or delegates various QC functions as needed.
    • Fluoroscopy Checks
    • Annual Apron Checks
    • Ordering Interventional or other specialty supplies
  • Assists Radiologists and Director with QA activities
  • Maintains department readiness for state and CIHQ inspection.
  • Performs miscellaneous projects assigned from the radiologists and DI manager

Essential Functions:

  • Ability to travel to off site offices.
  • Ability to Keyboard and have fine motor skills
  • Ability to perform duties of a CT or Radiologic Technologist
  • Maintain any licenses needed for this position.
  • The ability to be supervised.
  • The ability to work as a Team.
  • The ability to have positive personal interactions with staff, patients/residents and visitors.

Position Qualifications:

  • Education: Graduation from an ARRT certified Radiologic Technologist program.
  • Experience: 5 years as full time radiographer. Minimum 2 years as a CT technologist. Two (2) years minimum supervisory or managerial experience preferred.
  • Certifications: CRT, California fluoroscopy permit, CPR.
  • Computer literate- Word processing, Spreadsheet
  • Skills/Ability: Ability to perform full range of exams performed in department
