Coding Supervisor Position Summary

Duties include sharing the oversight of the Coding department, conducting group meetings with the team; maintaining records and tracking information for production staff, i.e., charts per hour, quality averages, conducting performance reviews, counseling, assigning employees to specific duties, planning and forecasting workload on a daily weekly and monthly basis. Direct communication with department manager. Direct Supervision of coders. The Supervisor will work closely with the Quality Assurance Representatives, Auditor, and Trainers. The Coding Supervisor reports directly to the manager. Review daily volume and aging reports adjust staff accordingly Supervise staffing levels and allocations Supervise Coder productivity Supervise Coders time On-boarding of new employees Initiation of Corrective Action Other duties as assigned

Coding Supervisor Position Requirements

Experience

• Two years previous supervisor experience with compliance standards.
• Minimum of five years of coding experience.
• Knowledge of ICD-10 and CPT/HCPS coding systems.
• Basic understanding of medical anatomy and physiology.
• High degree of proficiency in computer and analytical skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills Certificates, Licenses, Registrations CPC or equivalent qualification required.
• Ability to work with minimal supervision in a fast paced environment.
• Must be organized and able to multi task.
• Good communication skills.
• Working knowledge and intermediate experience with Excel (ability to use and manipulate pivot tables), Word and Outlook.
• Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed written or oral instructions.
• Ability to read and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or regulations.
• Ability to write reports.
• Strong ability to speak effectively, present information and respond to questions from managers, clients or employees of the organization.
• Ability to perform and complete projects in a timely manner.
• Ability to work the necessary hours to meet deadlines.
• Ability to lead.
• Additional Knowledge and Skills Knowledge of insurance company practices regarding reimbursement and healthcare receivables.
• Able to motivate others and work under pressure.

Education

• High School diploma required- 2 year degree preferred.

Coding Supervisor Work Schedule

• Day shift, Monday through Friday.
• Evening and weekend work as needed.
• Expected to be available in emergency situations.
