Community Nutritionist

Position Summary

Community Nutritionist provides nutrition education to community members, prepares and presents
nutrition and healthy lifestyle programs and provides community outreach at health fairs and other events
both in-person and virtually.

Primary Position Responsibilities

1. Educational Programming:

Develop and deliver education to clients regarding disease prevention and
management through nutrition, addressing challenges such as financial constraints, time limitations, and nutrition misinformation.

2. Community Outreach:

Be available on-site at farmer's markets and community events to offer live cooking
demonstrations and share recipes that utilize seasonal produce, providing practical skills for preparing healthy meals.

3. Nutrition Advisor:

Serve as subject matter nutrition information resource to Community Outreach team.

4. Client Education:

Provide guidance for building long-term, sustainable eating plans for individuals and families.

Qualifications

Minimum Education:

Required:

Bachelor's Degree in Food/Nutrition or related field

Preferred:

Master's Degree in Food/Nutrition or related field

Minimum Years of Experience (Amount, Type and Variation):

Required:

2-3 years of clinical, community or outpatient services

Preferred:

3 or more years of clinical, community or outpatient services

License, Registry or Certification:

Required:

Registered Dietitian

Preferred:

Certified Diabetes Educator- After meeting 1000 hours of direct diabetes education, must sit for the CDE
exam by the NCBDE within 8 months of completing the required time and hours.

Knowledge, Skills and/or Abilities:

Required:

Basic Computer Skills
Excellent communication skills and customer service orientation
Ability to engage with public both one on one and in a group setting.

Preferred:

Computer: Google suite
Experience with group presentation/public speaking
