Contract Physician Job Description - $125.00 - $135.00/hourly DOE

Specialty: Internal Medicine | Occupational Medicine | Emergency Medicine

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

The Contract Physician provides medical assessments and evaluations, provides treatment for emergent, urgent, and routine medical issues, provides and supervises medical treatment for chronic medical conditions, and participates in organizational initiatives to help prevent diseases and injuries of patients in a correctional setting. Work with the primary healthcare team to provide patients with primary medical care services.

  • Order laboratory and radiology tests and refer patients to specialists when appropriate
  • Analyze reports, test results, medical records, and examinations to diagnose condition of patients and propose treatment options
  • Prescribe pharmaceuticals, medications, and treatment regimens for medical conditions
  • Discuss potential side effects of medication/treatment with patients
  • Provide advice to patients for lifestyle and diet changes that may improve their health or help to treat the health issue they are experiencing
  • Adhere to departmental policies, procedures, and objectives
  • Maintain patient confidentiality and comply with all federal and state health information privacy laws
  • Record complete, timely, and legible medical records

Qualifications:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to effectively communicate with internal and external customers
  • Excellent computer proficiency (MS Office – Word, Excel, and Outlook)
  • Must be able to work under pressure and meet deadlines, while maintaining a positive attitude and providing exemplary customer service
  • Ability to work independently and to carry out assignments to completion within parameters of instructions given prescribed routines, and standard accepted practices
  • Ability to build rapport with patients and provide a compassionate and caring demeanor
  • Experience with emergency medicine or offshore oil rigs is a plus

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to perform the essential job functions consistent safely and successfully with the ADA, FMLA, and other federal, state, and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards.
  • Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA, and other federal, state, and local standards

  • Must be able to work enduring shifts as shifts 12-24 hours
  • Must be able to work on an on-call schedule
  • Must be able to work lift and carry up to 50 lbs.

  • The ability to work varied hours, as needed
