Clinical Counselor - Bilingual

Our Clinical Counselors work collaboratively to promote optimal development and prevent psychological trauma in our patients. By providing comprehensive programming and interventions, our specialists proactively engage our most vulnerable patients to provide connection and support. A Typical Day

As a Bilingual Clinical Counselor within our Clinical Program, a typical day might include the following:

  • Providing individual, group, and family counseling for adult and child survivors of domestic violence on a weekly or bi-weekly basis.
  • Conducting intake assessments for new adult clients across both our residential and non-residential programs.
  • Splitting your weekly schedule split between the Essex County Family Justice Center (3 days per week) and The Safe House (2 days per week).
  • Supervising and training staff, volunteers, and interns who provide vital support to the clinical program.
  • Intersecting with multidisciplinary partners and internal staff to consult on mutual cases and coordinate comprehensive services.
  • Inputting all progress notes and case documentation efficiently into the client database within 48 hours of interaction.

To Be Considered:

To be considered for this opportunity, you must meet the following criteria:

  • Education: Master's degree (MA/MS/MSW) in Social Work, Counseling, or a closely related behavioral health field.
  • Licensure & Language: Must possess an active New Jersey state license (LSW). Fluency in English and Spanish is required; Portuguese language skills are highly valued.
  • Certifications: Completion of the 40-hour Domestic Violence training is preferred, or it must be successfully completed within six months of hire. Domestic Violence Specialist (DVS) certification is strongly preferred.
  • Physical Requirements: Ability to lift boxes and programmatic materials up to 25 lbs. as needed.
  • Schedule: Full-time status reporting directly to the Clinical Director, with the flexibility to work evening hours in response to agency and client needs.
