The Operating Room is a department within the Perioperative Division consisting of: Pre Admission Testing, Preoperative Services, Operating Room, Post Anesthesia Care Unit, Endoscopy, Cape Outpatient Surgery Center, and Sterile Processing.  Our team provides care to both inpatients and outpatients in the following surgical specialties: general, vascular, thoracic, cardiovascular, orthopedic, gynecology, urology, plastic/reconstructive, otorhinolaryngology, neurosurgery, ophthalmology, laser, minimally invasive, bariatric, robotic assisted surgery, TAVR (transcather aortic valve replacement), and organ recovery.  We have 26 OR suites consisting of 3 Open Heart suites, 17 main OR suites, 1 interventional vascular suite, 1 hybrid suite and 4 4th floor OR suites.

Responsibilities: Functions in an advanced scrub role for operative procedures either as a CST First Assistant or as a cardiovascular CST. Provides an advanced level of practice utilizing knowledge, expertise, and involvement in professional activities to serve as a resource person for their patient population. Plans and executes complex daily activities including the ability to prioritize, impact the "30-minute" guarantee for inpatients and 25 minutes for outpatients in turnovers (patient out to in). Demonstrates role model professionalism and a working knowledge of advanced technology (i.e. minimally invasive procedures, daVinci) and makes significant contributions in reducing cost per case (i.e. impact preference card accuracy, choice or supplies, suture, etc.) Serves in the role of preceptor for students and new hires.

Requirements:  Require current CST national certification. Must maintain national certification with documented proof of current certification status.  Minimum of three (3) years of cardiovascular experience. Prefer CST First Assistant and demonstrated knowledge of specialty procedures, instrumentation and equipment.  Demonstrated ability to communicate both orally and in writing; working knowledge of computers.  ** We are willing to train a CST with a strong thoracic background for this opportunity to join the CVOR team.**
