Director of Rehabilitation

Essential Duties
1.Demonstrates knowledge of age specific developmental factors specific to adult and geriatric residents (i.e. physical, cognitive, and socialization factors) in planning delivery of care.
2.Demonstrates knowledge, skills, and techniques necessary to care for and treat residents with the following needs: orthopedics, neurological diseases and infectious diseases, if applicable.
3.Attends all mandatory in-services.
4.Obtains equipment, linen and supplies as per policy. Manage day-to-day operations and upkeep of the rehabilitation department.
5.Acts as an active member of the interdisciplinary team.
6.Communicates and observes the Compliance Program effectively and complies with Code of Conduct when performing work functions.
7.Coordinates the operations of the Rehabilitation Department to meet the patient's needs as well as the company's fiscal requirements and maintains compliance with federal and state regulations.
8.Coordinates the assignment of rehabilitation patients and other rehabilitation responsibilities to staff therapists and therapy contractors in an appropriate manner.
9.Coordinates and manages responses related to ADR's / Denials, writing appeals as necessary, in coordination with the Executive Director.
10.Hires and terminates department employees according to company policies with input from Executive Director. Completes and submits all required documentation.
11.Orients, trains, supervises, evaluates, and counsels rehabilitation department employees to achieve and maintain a high standard of care.
12.Works in conjunction with other departments involved in the management of payment for each patient seen by therapy.

Standard Requirements
1.Supports the Mission, Values and Vision of the Facility.
2.Supports, cooperates with, and complies with specific procedures and programs for OSHA and safety, including safe work practices, established fire/safety/disaster plans, risk management and security. Reports and/or corrects unsafe working conditions, equipment and maintenance needs.
3.Adheres to:
a.confidentiality of all data, including employee and operations data;
b. HIPAA regulations;
c.quality assurance and regulatory requirements;
d.compliance with current law and policy to provide a work environment free from sexual harassment and illegal and discriminatory behavior; and
e.compliance with Code of Conduct and compliance programs when performing job functions.
f.compliance with Medicare rules and regulations
g.compliance with billing practice through systematic audit process
4.Supports and participates in common teamwork.

Qualifications
1.Must possess strong knowledge regarding state, federal, and local regulations as they pertain to long-term care.
2.Must be capable of performing the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodations.
3.Must be able to communicate in English, both verbally and in writing and possess sufficient communication skills to perform the tasks required.

Education/Training:
1.Must be a graduate from an accredited school of Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy or Speech/Language Pathology.
2.Must possess a current license in the state of current practice.
3.Speech Therapists are to maintain their ASHA Certificate of Clinical Competence.

Requires manual dexterity sufficient to operate standard office machines such as fax, copier, computer.
