Director of Research

*We are searching for an innovative, creative thinker with research experience in a rehabilitation setting*

Job Summary:

  • The Director of Research will play a pivotal role in developing, promoting, and executing the research agenda of Good Shepherd Rehabilitation. This individual will be instrumental in promoting a cohesive research agenda through internal and external partnerships and will serve as the key liaison between the collaborative research activities of Good Shepherd Rehabilitation and Lehigh University. The incumbent will not only promote a culture of inquiry and evidence-based practice across disciplines and service lines but also be a driving force in developing internal initiatives that link research and clinical practice. The Director of Research will ensure regulatory oversight of all program activities and work across departments to expand the research program, making a significant impact on the organization. The ideal candidate has a demonstrated history of research publications, grant management, people management, and program building. Past research in the areas of knowledge translation and clinical trials research is preferable.


Essential Functions:

  • -Develops and promotes the research agenda across the organization through collaboration, mentorship, and resource management

    -Implements strategies and initiatives that educate and empower clinicians to lead research investigations

    -Communicates research activities to internal and external stakeholders in order to further Good Shepherd's external research presence among the national rehabilitation community.

    -Facilitates external collaborations and partnerships in line with Good Shepherd Research agenda.

    -Serves as a key liaison to all collaborative projects with Lehigh University.

    -Ensures research is conducted in compliance with ethical standards and regulations. Develops and maintains internal policies and procedures to ensure regulatory and institutional compliance.

    -Collaborates across departments to secure and manage external grant funding for research. Applies for and manages external grant research and serves as a principal investigator for relevant funded grants.

    -Manages research teams and ensures projects are completed on time and within budget.

    -Leads research projects within the organization.

    -Provides statistical and data analysis support.

    -Disseminates research findings. Submits research findings to suitable venues for publication in order to advance best practices and findings in rehabilitation medicine and science.

    -Collaborates with Good Shepherd Learns & Creates to advance knowledge translation, technology adoption, and assess the impact of the new innovations within the system.

  • Work Experience

    • Research experience required - involved in the development and execution of research designs and analysis, and communication of results.

      2+ years management experience preferred.
  • Education
    • Masters-level degree or equivalent required. PhD, DHSc, or equivalent preferred.
