Education Coordinator
The Education Coordinator is the special educator for their assigned caseload. They are responsible for direct teaching, development and implementation of the students' IEPs, and monitoring educational progress.
The Education Coordinator reports to the Program Specialist.
General Duties/Responsibilities
Direct teaching
- Teach students on the team, implementing all behavior, educational, and IEP objective programming.
- IEP development, implementation and monitoring
- Prepare for and facilitate (chair/co-chair) IEP meetings. Distribute proposed IEP documents to funding district.
- Facilitate interdisciplinary collaboration for IEP development and implementation
- Prepare educational assessments for re-evaluation (e.g. NECC Core Skill Assessment, relevant sections of NECC Skills Assessment, Brigance, DOE Educational Assessment)
- Activate/oversee activation of curriculum on ACE (including setting parameters for session tally and PTO)
Student Progress Monitoring
- Review, edit, and submit progress reports
- Prepare materials for Clinical Case Reviews (RES) or parent clinics (IIP)
- Chair MBO meetings according to prescribed guidelines for each student 10x per year
- Monitor student progress of IEP objectives and remediate as needed
MCAS/State Assessments
- Incorporate testing requirements into IEP objectives as appropriate
- Supervise and monitor caseload students' alternate assessments (including MCAS) by following NECC Ed Department guidelines and timelines
Supervision and Leadership
- Primary supervisor for WST and case manager (role responsibilities)
- Oversee/assist in case manager training on progress reports, MBO preparation, remediation of student programming, increasing session tally
- Train implementation of new curriculum during team meetings
- Meet monthly with new teachers as mentor
- Oversee/ participate in new teacher training, booster trainings for educational programs
- Participate in all Educational Coordinator training meetings
- Actively participate in implementation of and provide support with student enrichment activities and department wide initiatives
- Serve as primary shift manager during on-shift hours when needed
- Prioritizes time spent per week conducting sessions, student observations, and staff training outside of on shift hours
Develop and Maintain Educational systems for Classroom
- In collaboration with other team supervisors, maintains a clean and functional classroom space including replacing educational materials to promote student independence and progress towards IEP objectives
- Ensure availability of educational materials at the school and relevant educational programs at the residence
- Maintain team devices (ACE iPads, other team devices, etc.)
Education/Experience
- Completion of or active enrollment in a master's degree program in Special Education
- MA Licensure in Severe Disabilities or eligibility for a waiver; candidates actively pursuing licensure are encouraged to apply
- Case management experience
- Training and/or supervisory experience
