Electronic Security Engineer

The Engineer, Information Systems - Electronic Security Systems (ESS) supports and maintains University Health's enterprise physical and electronic security platforms. This role is responsible for the operation, reliability, and integration of facility-based security technologies, including access control, video surveillance, emergency communications, and safety monitoring systems across a complex healthcare environment.
This position focuses on operational technology (OT) and electronic security systems, not cybersecurity or information security.
Key Responsibilities

  • Support enterprise electronic security platforms including Access Control, Video Surveillance (CCTV), Emergency Communications, Infant/Pediatric Protection (RFID), Intrusion Alarm, and Visitor Management systems
  • Configure and maintain application-level system settings, user permissions, and device integrations
  • Perform system testing, validation, and deployment of vendor-supported upgrades and patches
  • Monitor scheduled data exchanges between electronic security systems and enterprise applications
  • Generate operational reports, audits, and system performance metrics
  • Coordinate service restoration and troubleshooting with the Help Desk, Network Services, and vendors
  • Support vendors and contractors during physical system installations, expansions, and upgrades
  • Participate in IT service management processes related to incident response, problem resolution, and system changes
  • Provide after-hours and on-call support for electronic security systems operations as required

  • Windows Server (system hosting and application support)
  • Virtualized server environments (VMware vSphere)
  • Enterprise server hardware support (Cisco UCS, Dell)
  • Network fundamentals related to system connectivity (IP addressing, VLAN awareness)
  • Microsoft endpoint and systems management tools for application support purposes


This is not a Cybersecurity Role.
Education & Experience

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, Healthcare Technology, or related field required.
Four years of relevant experience, or an Associate degree with one year of related experience, may be substituted for education requirements.
Experience supporting large-scale electronic or physical security systems in healthcare or similarly regulated environments preferred.
Work Environment

Hospital and data center environments with 24/7 on-call rotation supporting facility security systems.
