Environment of Care Specialist

Job Summary: Supports CaroMont Health's commitment to a safe, compliant, and survey-ready environment by assisting with the coordination and implementation of the Environment of Care (EOC) program. Supports continuous survey readiness through compliance monitoring and complete, accurate documentation. Develops and maintains EOC plans, policies, and training programs. Develops, implements, and monitors EOC-related performance improvement initiatives that support health system goals, enhance processes, and improve environmental safety. Builds collaborative relationships through effective communication, professionalism, and sound judgment. Serves as an EOC expert to leaders throughout the health system.

Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in environmental or occupational safety or a related field required, or an associate's degree with at least three (3) years of environment of care, environmental or occupational safety, facilities or regulatory compliance, or accreditation experience required. Experience in a health care setting preferred. Working knowledge of, or ability to interpret and apply, Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) Conditions of Participation, Joint Commission (JC) Physical Environment Standards, Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) regulations, Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) regulations, National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) Life Safety Code, and applicable North Carolina Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) requirements. Requires strong computer skills, including typing proficiency and use of Microsoft Office products. Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills, attention to detail, organizational skills, effective time management, and the ability to collaborate across functions and departments. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Certification as a Certified Hazardous Materials Practitioner (CHMP), Certified Healthcare Safety Professional (CHSP), Certified Safety and Health Manager (CSHM), or other closely related certification(s) is preferred.
