Environmental Supervisor Engineer

As the Environmental Supervisor Engineer, you will lead a team of environmental and IM2 operators within the Optical Environmental Systems/Utilities and IM2 Treatment Facility/Collection Systems. Your primary responsibility is to ensure that all operations are conducted safely, efficiently, and in full compliance with environmental regulations while maintaining cost-effectiveness.

You will report to the Optical Production Manager and be located onsite at the Norton Barberton, OH Plant. PPG offers excellent Medical, Dental, & Vision Benefits; matching 401k + retirement savings; and Paid Vacation, Holiday pay.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee operational, engineering and technical support of multiple chemical production units.
  • Develop and utilize people, equipment, materials, utilities and budget to meet plant and requirements for safety, environment, quality, labor, and expense.
  • Maintain, document and upgrade current and newly established manufacturing process capabilities.
  • Implement improvements in manufacturing in areas of process stabilization, repeatability, quality control, efficiencies of labor, rate improvement, operational downtime reduction and elimination of scrap and rework.
  • Develop supporting documentation and reports and submit reports and results to management and the business.
  • Create process flow, drawings, procedures and training documents to support manufacturing in the implementation of improvements.
  • Support training of new operators and annual refresher training in each process area. Learn and understand the production processes and backfill for department supervisors.
  • Work independently and on project teams to move projects based on best know-how and the best available technology.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in an engineering field required, Chemical Engineering preferred.
  • 2+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably a chemical facility.
  • Prior experience using SAP ERP system, Lean methodologies and 6 sigma is a plus.
  • Digital literacy, analytical abilities, and attention to detail are required to manage day-to-day information and data.
