Excellent customer service and communication skills. Knoweldege of HIPAA regulations. Experience working in a hospital setting is a plus. Enhances hospital services through the effective and efficient registration of all patients by obtaining complete and accurate demographic and financial information in or to provide quality patient services while maintaining confidentiality at all times. Operates switchboard to relay incoming calls, outgoing calls and pages, screens visitors and releases patient room information when authorized.
Register patients for services.
Verify all components for clean admission (insurance, signatures, phone number, address etc.).
Processes pre-registration documents.
Reconciles and adjusts daily census.
Arranges for proper bed assignment according to patient type and diagnosis and secures transportation services for the patient.
Dispatches EMS personnel for emergency calls and transfers.
Maintains EMS locations and availability at all times.
Operates switchboard and utilizes paging system accordingly using proper phone etiquette at all times.
Assures proper information is given to Patient Financial Services and Director for voided admissions.
Monitors various alarm panels (generators, fire, boiler, medical gas, blood bank etc.)
Maintains log of all hospital keys house wide.
Maintains log of all pages, phone calls etc.
Monitors weather for hospital wide notification (snow removal, storm watch etc.)
Dispatch for disaster planning, weather warnings, and other facility codes.
Maintain accurate phone numbers and trees hospital wide.
Responsible for updating on-call board located in the communications department.
Responsible for tracking physician availability.
Other duties as assigned by Director/Lead.
: Prefer prior medical/office experience. Lifting up to 50 lbs. Answering phones. Basic computer knowledge. Keyboard proficiency. Attention to detail and accuracy. Must posses the ability to multi-task and stay calm in highly stressful situations. Ability to interact and communicate with public and co-workers. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
High school diploma or equivalent.
