Executive Director/Vice President, Financial Planning & Analysis

POSITION SUMMARY:

As Intercept continues to build its position as the leader in progressive non-viral liver disease, we are seeking an Executive Director/Vice President of Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A), to report directly into the Chief Financial Officer (CFO).

CORE ACCOUNTABILITIES:

The successful candidate must be able to perform each of the following satisfactorily, with or without an accommodation:

* Oversee and lead annual budgeting and planning process in conjunction with the CFO; administer and review all financial plans and budgets; monitor progress and changes and keep senior leadership team abreast of the organization's financial status
* Oversee quarterly forecasting process to ensure the company has the most current information available to support resource allocation and decision making
* Analyze and present financial reports in an accurate and timely manner; clearly communicate monthly and annual financial statements; collate financial reporting materials for all donor segments, and oversee all financial project/program and accounting
* Oversee business case development for key initiatives and track performance versus plan to ensure ROI targets are achieved
* Develop financial and non-financial key performance indicators (including all areas of revenue, cost of sales, and indirect expenses) and the appropriate reporting to assess financial and operational performance across the company
* Prepare and distribute monthly/quarterly financial reports with operating results (consolidate and departmental level) and provide quantitative and qualitative analysis of key variance and trends
* Prepare quarterly financial and statistical reports and presentations in support of quarterly earnings releases and/or calls, board meetings, and investor meetings; effectively prepare communications of critical financial matters to the board of directors and executive leadership team
* Manage organizational cash flow and forecasting capital requirements
* Prepare financial analysis for contract negotiations and product investment decisions and to support other business development initiatives
* Build and develop systems - set up highly efficient financial systems that consider revenues from distributors, payers etc. in multiple countries and currencies, AR, cash management, financial operating systems of a rapidly scaling geographically distributed operations
* Establish, implement, and monitor global accounting policies and procedures
* Understand the legal compliance environment and drive collaboration with the legal and compliance teams
* Support the business development process with insights and analysis
* Assist with the implementation of ERP and business planning system and develop best in class business processes
* Manage the preparation of all management reports and align global finance teams to ensure timely and accurate consolidation
* Understand the legal and compliance environment and drive collaboration with the Legal and Compliance team

QUALIFICATIONS:

* Bachelor's degree required; MBA and/or CPA highly desired
* 15+ years of overall professional experience; ideally 10+ years of broad financial and operations management experience
* Working knowledge of global pharmaceuticals markets as well as work experience outside of the U.S.
* A track record in public company and SEC reporting

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES:

* Technology savvy with experience selecting and overseeing ERP software vendors; knowledge of accounting and reporting software
* Commitment to talent development to maximize individual and organization goals
* A successful track record in setting priorities; keen analytic organizational and problem-solving skills which support an enable sound decision making
* Excellent communication and relationship building skills with an ability to prioritize, negotiate, and work with a variety of internal and external stakeholders
* Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, ability to prioritize and meet deadline in fast paced environment
* Strong verbal and/or written communications skills
* Learning agility and 'scalability' to take on increasing responsibility as Intercept grows

COMPANY SUMMARY:

At Intercept, our mission is to build a healthier tomorrow for patients with progressive non-viral liver diseases. Intercept's lead product, obeticholic acid (OCA), is a first-in-class farnesoid X receptor (FXR) agonist marketed under the brand name \"Ocaliva®\" in the U.S., EU and Canada for the treatment of patients with primary biliary cholangitis (PBC), a rare autoimmune liver disease. In 2016, Ocaliva® was the first medication to be approved for PBC in over twenty years, and sales continue to grow.

Intercept has also established the leading clinical development program in advanced fibrosis due to nonalcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH), a disease that impacts the lives of millions of people in the U.S. alone and for which there are currently no available treatments. The 18-month interim analysis of the REGENERATE study of OCA remains the only readout from a Phase 3 trial to have shown positive results in the disease.
