  • Schedule: Full Time Monday - Friday 7:30 am to 4 pm. No call, weekends or holidays.
  • Hospital: Ascension St. Vincent
  • Location: Indianapolis, IN will work between two locations

Responsibilities

Implement and supervise physical exercise programs for patients.

  • Provide patient testing and assessment before and after rehabilitation.
  • Plan and teach exercise therapy for patients utilizing test data, patient status and current medication regimen. Monitor patient's response and revise plan accordingly.
  • Recognize contradications and abnormal patient responses to exercise. Respond appropriately to all situations including exercise cessation and referral to medical professionals.
  • Provide exercise information for patients, peers and the community which may include public speaking and education classes.
  • Ensure department equipment is properly maintained, calibrated and functioning correctly. Prepare, develop, and maintain various files, record, report; schedule patient appointments as required.
  • Provide oversight to department activities in the absence of the manager.

Requirements

Licensure / Certification / Registration:

  • BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
  • Athletic Trainer credentialed from the Indiana Athletic Trainers Board preferred.
  • Certification specializing in Sports Medicine preferred.
  • Exercise Physiologist credentialed from the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) preferred.



Education:

  • Bachelors degree required.
  • Masters degree preferred.

Additional Preferences

Cardiology experience strongly preferred. Kinesiology or exercise science background a plus.
