Facilities Technician
OBJECTIVE AND POSITION SUMMARY
The Facilities Technician is responsible for the upkeep and functionality of office spaces, warehouses, and surrounding grounds across multiple service areas. This includes performing general maintenance, custodial tasks, weed and trash control, and supporting facility operations. The technician will also manage inventory and assist with distribution, logistics, including coordination with wood/food partnership programs. This position requires regular travel between sites and a proactive approach to facility care and resource management.
SPECIALIZATIONS
- General Maintenance & Repairs
- Routine upkeep of office and warehouse infrastructure (doors, windows, lighting, furniture).
- Minor carpentry, painting, and drywall patching.
- Custodial Services
- Cleaning and sanitizing common areas, restrooms, and workspaces.
- Floor care (sweeping, mopping, vacuuming) and waste disposal.
- Groundskeeping
- Weed control, trash pickup, and basic landscaping.
- Seasonal outdoor maintenance (snow removal, leaf clearing, etc.).
- Inventory & Logistics Support
- Managing stock levels of supplies and equipment.
- Assisting with distribution logistics, including loading/unloading and delivery coordination.
- Program Coordination Support
- Assisting with wood and food partnership programs (e.g., organizing, transporting, and distributing materials).
- Collaborating with community partners and internal teams.
- Facility Operations
- Monitoring building systems (lighting, HVAC, plumbing) and reporting issues.
- Supporting safety inspections and compliance with facility standards.
- Mobile Site Support
- Traveling between service areas to perform scheduled and emergency tasks.
- Maintaining tools and supplies for mobile operations.
- Health & Safety Compliance
- Following OSHA and internal safety protocols.
- Reporting hazards and participating in safety training.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND COMPETENCIES
Education/Background:
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Valid driver's license meeting company policy standards to drive and proof of insurance.
- 1-2 years of experience in facilities maintenance, custodial work, or related field.
Other Requirements
- Operate hand and power tools, cleaning equipment, and light machinery.
- Perform tasks in varied weather conditions, including heat, cold, rain, and snow.
- May be required to drive between multiple sites and load/unload materials.
- Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) such as gloves, safety glasses, and masks when necessary.
- Work is performed in office buildings, warehouses, and outdoor environments.
- Exposure to dust, cleaning chemicals, noise, and uneven surfaces.
- Regular travel between service areas using company or personal vehicle.
- May occasionally work in confined spaces or at heights (e.g., ladders, rooftops).
- Schedule may include early mornings, evenings, or weekends depending on operational needs.
- Must be able to respond to urgent maintenance issues and adapt to changing priorities.
- Basic knowledge of hand and power tools.
- Familiarity with safety procedures and willingness to follow OSHA guidelines.
- Ability to travel regularly between multiple service sites.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
