Food Service Retail Cashier
The RHS Food Service Retail Cook I/Cashier is at the forefront of customer service providing guests with service above and beyond expectations to ensure a memorable food and dining experience. Works under the supervision of the Retail Manager Lead Retail Supervisor and Nutrition Service Supervisors. Performs duties relative to service excellence by demonstrating courteous and prompt service line set-up and presentation. Demonstrates accurate cash handling procedures and competence in use of Department cash register hardware and software. Completes prep work including but not limited to slicing deli meat chopping fruits & vegetables preparing salads and sandwiches short order grill cook specialty pizza prep handcrafted Starbucks hot and cold drinks etc following all prep worksheets and recipes to meet the guidelines established by the Department management team and regulatory standards. Prepares all special request food items as necessary. Serves on the cafeteria serving line using proper portion control and plating techniques. Demonstrates the knowledge of basic food preparation techniques including receiving storing preparation holding and chilling of food items. Possesses knowledge of weights and measurements as it relates to volume measurement. Demonstrates the ability to operate a grill char-broiler warmer turbo chef oven and steamer espresso machine blenders small batch ovens and new equipment as it becomes available. Demonstrates a working knowledge of food service sanitation practices and food safety guidelines. Maintains overall cleanliness of food preparation service and customer retail areas. Performs other duties as assigned. Promotes and maintains a safe work environment for staff as well as our customers. Riverside began serving the Virginia Peninsula community in 1916. A 450-bed facility, Riverside Regional Medical Center is the Virginia Peninsulas most comprehensive medical facility combining the most recent computerized medical technology with a healing environment. The Pavilion is a 250,000 sq. ft. , $107 million, 3-story addition to Riverside Regional Medical Center, which opened in 2013. This acute care facility provides a regional cancer care center, the Peninsula regions only comprehensive stroke center, the areas only open-heart surgery program, the regions only Level II Trauma Center, and a cornerstone neurosciences program that includes the Chesapeake, Riverside and University of Virginia Radiosurgery Center.
High school diploma or GED preferred. Training or prior experience as a prep or short order cook preferred. ServSafe Certification preferred. Ability to complete basic math calculations.
One to three years or more food preparation experience preferably in a high volume restaurant, hotel or healthcare kitchen preferred.
Food Handler Card required within 30 days after hire, department will provide training. Required.
