  • Position Summary
    • Under the direction of the licensed staff member, the GI Technician gives non-licensed, technical bedside care as a member of the Team. The GI Tech also performs some daily housekeeping and transport duties in the GI Unit.
  • Education
    • High School Diploma Education - Preferred
  • Experience
    • 1 Year CNA - Preferred
    • Previous acute care experience preferred.
    • Previous endoscopy experience preferred.
  • License & Certification
    • Certification encouraged when eligible.
  • Core Job Functions
    • Patients are escorted from reception area and assistance provided with dressing and undressing. Complete set of vitals obtained and comfort and safety is provided. Warm blankets offered and patient privacy is maintained.
    • Demonstrates competence in anatomy and physiology of the Gastrointestinal System. Demonstrates a competence in handling of equipment as related to the procedures performed in this department. Ensures that all equipment and accessories are functioning properly prior to any procedure.
    • Knows proper function of equipment and instruments, including use, cleaning and disinfection procedure. Trouble shoots equipment when not functioning and reports malfunctioning equipment to Biomedical staff in a timely manner.
    • Implements AORN standards. Implements environmental standards.
    • Uses resources wisely. Eliminates waste. Maintains supply par levels.
