Group Services Instructor (Fall- 30 Day)

Diakon Lutheran Social Ministries is one of the premier employers in Pennsylvania and Maryland. We are a non-profit organization which includes Diakon Senior Living Services and Diakon Child, Family, and Community Ministries.

General Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for facilitating or assisting in the facilitation of a variety of Wilderness group activities including Weekend trail based groups and leading 30-day Wilderness Treck programs.
  • Provides leadership and supervision to all participating clients/groups involved in the Wilderness Program's group services.
  • Provides technical and logistical support for designated activities, e.g. rock climbing, canoeing, high ropes, climbing tower and other initiatives.
  • Ensures that course policies and procedures are understood and adhered to.

Education/Training: A Bachelor's degree in Experiential Education, Therapeutic Recreation, Outdoor Education or related field of study normally required.

Experience: A minimum of two (2) years' experience in related position normally required.

ADA: Ability to walk, climb and otherwise maneuver in a rustic setting; ability to sit, stand, lift, bend, reach, push, and pull items weighing up to 50 lbs.; visual and auditory skills
