Position Purpose:
As part of the revenue cycle team, the Logistic Technician is responsible for gathering all demographic and insurance information at the time a patient presents for service. The Logistic Technician is responsible for verifying all information for accuracy, thus ensuring prompt billing of all insurance claims. The Logistics Technician is also responsible for counseling all customers on their financial responsibility to Holy Cross Hospital.
Key Job Activities:
- Prepare a computerized registration on all patients presenting for service. This registration data serves as a patient data base utilized by multiple departments and physicians.
- Collect and verify all personal and insurance information via appropriate technological enablers such as Trans Union and/or NEBO.
- Complete MSP for all Medicare Patients, if applicable.
- Complete an ABN for all Medicare Patients, if applicable.
- Responsible for scheduling outpatient diagnostic exams, which includes but is not limited to, demographic verification, insurance verification, diagnosis and script verification.
- Act as liaison between Physicians/Nursing Staff and Patients/Families.
- Collect payments where applicable and keep accurate records of all payments received for services by the Hospital and generate a computerized receipt. One copy of the receipt is to be given to the Patient - the second is the Business Office copy.
- Discuss with Patient payment options for all open account balances.
- Direct/Transport patients to appropriate areas for testing/treatment.
- Receive, place and transfer telephone calls using appropriate telephone
- etiquette.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Education and Work Experience:
- High school diploma/GED required.
- Compliant with PPD requirements
- Preferably two (2) years of typing; some computer experience desired.
- Minimum 2 years in a healthcare related field.
Knowledge and Skills:
- Knowledge of the Patient Bill of Rights, Conflict Resolution, De-escalation Techniques, Negotiation Strategies and/or Problem Solving.
- Ability to use Microsoft Office (Word and Outlook)
- Bilingual (Spanish) preferred.
- Experience Preferred in EPIC and MEDITECH software systems preferred.

Registry (per diem) Caregivers are caregivers who work less than 1,000 hours in a calendar year. Registry caregivers are employees of Sinai Health System but are typically on an as needed basis. These caregivers may be called upon to cover full-time or part-time caregivers during PTO events or sick leave as well as to provide supplemental coverage. Registry Caregivers are not eligible for Sinai's benefit programs with the exception for Sick-C, PPO Medical Plan, Employee Assistance Program (EAP) and non-match eligible contribution to the Sinai Health System Consolidated 403(b) retirement savings plan.
