Responsibilities include cleaning and disinfecting fixtures, furniture, floors, sinks, toilets, tubs, waste container and equipment in assigned work areas. Maintains established department policies, procedures, objectives along with safety and infection control standards. Qualifications Education: High school diploma or equivalent preferred. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities : Requires working knowledge and ability to perform practices and techniques associated with housekeeping and linen responsibilities. Ability to organize assigned work effectively and work under minimal supervision. Working Conditions: Works in a clean, well-lighted, heated and ventilated nursing unit. May be exposed to infectious or contagious diseases and body fluid or blood borne diseases. May be exposed to emergency situations as well as varying and unpredictable patient situations. Exposed to housekeeping/cleaning supplies and chemicals. Physical Requirements: Work is heavy demand, considerable walking and standing, pushing and pulling of mops, brooms, carts etc. Regular stooping, kneeling, reaching, bending, crouching, loading and unloading.
