Position Summary

As a Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP), you will evaluate, diagnose, and treat residents with speech, language, cognitive-communication, and swallowing disorders. You'll develop individualized treatment plans, educate residents and staff, and collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to support optimal resident outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Evaluate residents for speech, language, cognitive, and swallowing impairments
  • Develop and implement personalized treatment plans based on resident needs
  • Provide skilled therapy services aligned with medically necessary goals
  • Utilize augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) strategies when appropriate
  • Educate residents, caregivers, and staff on treatment approaches and progress
  • Collaborate with physicians and team members to coordinate instrumental swallowing evaluations (e.g., MBSS, FEES)
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation per facility and regulatory standards
  • Respond promptly to family inquiries and concerns
  • Train and support restorative nursing staff as needed
  • Ensure compliance with legal, ethical, and professional standards
  • Maintain resident confidentiality and dignity at all times

Qualifications

  • Active Texas Speech-Language Pathologist license
  • ASHA Certification or eligible Clinical Fellow (CF)
  • Good standing with all relevant licensing boards and agencies
  • Experience in Skilled Nursing Facilities (SNF) or long-term care preferred
  • Familiarity with Net Health documentation system a plus
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work with diverse populations
