Position Summary
As a Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP), you will evaluate, diagnose, and treat residents with speech, language, cognitive-communication, and swallowing disorders. You'll develop individualized treatment plans, educate residents and staff, and collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to support optimal resident outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- Evaluate residents for speech, language, cognitive, and swallowing impairments
- Develop and implement personalized treatment plans based on resident needs
- Provide skilled therapy services aligned with medically necessary goals
- Utilize augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) strategies when appropriate
- Educate residents, caregivers, and staff on treatment approaches and progress
- Collaborate with physicians and team members to coordinate instrumental swallowing evaluations (e.g., MBSS, FEES)
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation per facility and regulatory standards
- Respond promptly to family inquiries and concerns
- Train and support restorative nursing staff as needed
- Ensure compliance with legal, ethical, and professional standards
- Maintain resident confidentiality and dignity at all times
Qualifications
- Active Texas Speech-Language Pathologist license
- ASHA Certification or eligible Clinical Fellow (CF)
- Good standing with all relevant licensing boards and agencies
- Experience in Skilled Nursing Facilities (SNF) or long-term care preferred
- Familiarity with Net Health documentation system a plus
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work with diverse populations
