The Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at the South Dakota School of Mines & Technology is seeking applications for a nine-month, non-tenure-track faculty position at the rank of Instructor, Lecturer, or Senior Lecturer, depending on the qualifications and experience of the successful candidate.

Applicants must hold a PhD in Civil Engineering or a closely related field, or an MS degree in Civil Engineering or a closely related field with appropriate experience in teaching and/or industry. Strong verbal and written communication skills are essential. We are seeking an instructor/lecturer who will teach fundamental engineering courses, including statics, fluid mechanics, mechanics of materials, and/or other subjects aligned with their expertise. The successful candidate will be a passionate engineering educator that teaches courses primarily at the undergraduate level and participates in service-related activities. Salary is commensurate with qualifications. The anticipated start term is January 2026 or August 2026.

The Civil and Environmental Engineering Department offers BS, MS, and PhD degrees in Civil and Environmental Engineering and serves as an academic home to approximately 200 undergraduate and 50 graduate students. The department takes pride in its excellent educational programs and places a strong focus on undergraduate education with an emphasis on engineering fundamentals and design, preparing students for real-world challenges.
