Job Summary:
An interventional radiology technologist will assist interventional radiologists with minimally invasive, image-guided procedures that use instruments to treat conditions in the body. They are responsible for operating and maintaining specialized imaging equipment, administering contrast dyes, and ensuring patient safety and comfort throughout the procedure.
Job Responsibilities-
- Supervises the delivery of radiological services, in accordance with established standards and procedures, for the service area or unit.
- Recommends changes and improvements relating to the delivery of radiological services.
- Participates in the development of training programs for radiographic personnel, ancillary personnel and allied health care professionals. Demonstrates new or revised techniques, procedures and equipment.
- May perform radiologic procedures, as required.
- Performs special procedures including diagnostic and interventional radiography (e.g., C.T., M.R.I., and Mammography).
- Recommends area assignment of personnel to coordinate activities within the department with other activities and services and represents the department in interdepartmental operations and meetings.
- Participates in quality assurance activities, including coordination, control and maintenance of technical equipment.
- Participates in and coordinates procurement and storage of supplies and makes recommendations regarding supply and equipment needs.
- Performs research and participates in special projects involving evaluation of equipment and delivery of service.
Experience:
Minimum 1 year of experience using angiographic equipment, balloon angioplasty and stenting.
Certification:
- Valid license as a radiologic technologist issued by NYSDOH.
- BLS certification issued by AHA
- Advanced-Level Certification (only need 1) from ARRT to include one of the following:
ARRT (CI) - Cardiac Interventional Radiology.
ARRT (CV) - Cardiovascular Interventional Radiology.
ARRT (VI) - Vascular Interventional Radiology
Additional Requirements:
- Prefers to have someone who has knowledge in Computed Tomography.
