Penn Medicine is seeking a full-time, day-shift Junior Physicist within the Department of Radiology at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania (HUP).

Summary:

  • The Junior Physicist is a position within the department radiology that assists the staff physicists with QC/QA tasks throughout Penn Medicine's center city hospitals of Pennsylvania Hospital (PAH), Penn Presbyterian Medical Center (PPMC) and the Hospital University of Pennsylvania (HUP). The Junior Physicist also manages the application process for the American College of Radiology (ACR) accreditation of all accredited modalities at Penn Presbyterian Medical Center (PPMC) and Hospital University of Pennsylvania (HUP). This entails communicating with the ACR and disseminating information to administration, physicians, technologists, and physicists; collecting information/images from technologist, physicians, and physicist; submitting and tracking application packages with the ACR.


Responsibilities:

  • Manage the ACR accreditation process for all accredited modalities at HUP and PPMC
  • Conduct monthly quality assurance on the radiologist workstation monitors at HUP, PPMC and PAH
  • Conduct quarterly quality assurance on all radiographic systems at HUP, PPMC and PAH
  • Assist with other QA/QC tasks.
  • Assist with patient dose monitoring.
  • Assist with assessment of image quality and trouble-shooting image artifacts.
  • Assist with research in imaging physics.
  • Clinical awareness, professionalism and communication


Credentials:

  • American Registry Radiologic Tech (ARRT)


Education or Equivalent Experience:

  • Bachelor of Arts or Science with Education Specialization in Physics, Health Physics, Diagnostic Imaging or equivalent
  • OR > 5 years' experience as an American Registry Radiologic Technologist (ARRT) certified technologist in an advanced modality.
