This job is for a speech language pathologist at an elementary school. A full time SLP job is 187 days. SLPs are paid on the salary schedule attached here. Rank is based on licensure and graduate credit hours. Column 11SP is for SLPs that have 60+ graduate credit hours from their SLP program. Column 22SP is for candidates that have 45-59 credit hours, and Column 21SP is for candidates that have 30-44 credit hours.

JOB DESCRIPTION: SPEECH LANGUAGE PATHOLOGIST 1022.10AR

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Master's Degree in the area of Speech Language Pathology
  2. Speech Language Pathology License issued by the Kentucky Board of Speech-Language Pathology & Audiology
  3. American Speech-Language-Hearing Association Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC or CFY)


REPORTS TO: Director of Exceptional Children Services

JOB GOAL: Under the direction of the Admission & Release Committee, the Speech Language Pathologist will screen, assess and identify students with communication disorders which adversely affect their educational progress. The Speech Language Pathologist will develop and provide direct and indirect services within the student's educational setting based on established Individualized Education Plan goals and objectives.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Assure compliance with established state and federal laws, regulations, policies and procedures.
  2. Complies with evaluation standards and determines eligibility based on the Kentucky Eligibility Guidelines for Communication Disorders.
  3. Prepares written evaluations and maintains records which clearly and succinctly documents services provided, students' progress and dismissal from therapy as recommended to the Admissions and Release Committee.
  4. Effectively share results with parents and educational staff and participate in the eligibility determination process in accordance with state and local school requirements.
  5. Participates in the multidisciplinary team process regarding eligibility issues, Individualized Education Plan development, consultation of services and service delivery models.
  6. Employs instructional/therapeutic methods and materials that are appropriate for meeting each student's goals and objectives.
  7. Comply with all Medicaid requirements for school-based services.
  8. Communicate with students who have communication disorders, their families and/or caregivers and other service providers relative to the student's disability and its management; assists in development of classroom activities to meet the communication needs of students.
  9. Assess, selects and develops augmentative/alternative communication systems and provides training in their use.
  10. Participates in hearing screenings to identify and refer students with suspected hearing impairment and/or middle ear disorders.
  11. Attends and completes training; provides in service training to other professionals and paraprofessionals; and attends staff meetings & serves on school committees as needed.
  12. Performs other duties consistent with the position as may be requested by the Director of Exceptional Children Services/ Principal.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

Compensation will be based on 187 contract days on the board-approved teacher salary schedule for certified or the board-approved SP salary schedule for licensed speech language pathologist
