Position Summary:

Performs echocardiograms using ultrasound equipment in accordance with established practices and procedures for Kootenai Heart Clinics.

Responsibilities:

  • Provides preliminary diagnostic evaluation and notifies cardiologists of results of examinations
  • Consults with cardiologist to establish requirements for non-standard examinations and determines technical factors to satisfy requirements
  • Calibrate and maintains equipment when needed, maintains operational logs
  • Performs a variety of tasks
  • Works under general supervision
  • A certain degree of creativity and latitude is required
  • Typically reports to a chief technologist or manager
  • Performs other related duties as assigned
  • Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within the field
  • Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals
  • Regular and predictable attendance is an essential job function
  • Competent to meet age specific needs of the unit assigned

Requirements and Minimum Qualifications:

  • Associate's degree (AAS) or equivalent, from a CAAHEP accredited college or technical school in Echocardiography or; experience and training necessary for designation of "Registry Eligible" in Echocardiography required
  • ARDMS credentialed in RDCS or CCI credentialed in RCS required within 6 months of hire
  • BLS Required. Current AHA Healthcare provider, American Red Cross, AHA Health Saver or KH BLS during General Orientation

Working Conditions:

  • Must be able to maintain a standing position
  • Typical equipment used in a clinical job
  • Must be able to stoop, crouch or bend
  • Must be able to push, pull, or transport heavy equipment
