In addition to the duties and responsibilities of a Perinatal Ultrasound Tech, the Lead Ultrasound Technologist ensures the smooth and efficient operation of the Ultrasound Department under the supervision of the Director of Women and Children Services.
· Staff Sonographer duties and responsibilities.
· Acts as the contact person for ultrasound technologists.
· Ensures ultrasound-related supply levels are always adequate.
· Reports any equipment failures to GE and/or the Biomedical Equipment Dept.
· Coordinates patient flow.
· Participates in the orientation and training of new Sonographers.
· Handles daily operational issues such as staff scheduling, reporting sick or absent employees to the Manager.
· Problem-solve with in-house IT department with respect to RIS and PACS issues.
· Ensures staff Sonographers are following imaging protocols and assists in implementing new techniques and protocols.
· Participates in the formulation and implementation of policies and procedures related to ultrasound.
· Participates in the planning and modification to patient schedule templates for ultrasound.
Graduate of an AMA approved Ultrasound school
Current certification in American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers
Required OBGYN Certification
Required NTQR certified for Nuccal Translucency/Nasal Bone
Required BLS certification upon hire
Preferred CLEAR certified for Cervical Length
Preferred Fetal Echocardiography Certification
Specialty Certification highly preferred within 3 years of hire
Minimum of 1 year of Ultrasound experience
Preferred 3 years as a sonographer in OB/GYN or perinatal Maternal-Fetal Medicine setting
