Licensed Practical Nurse

The LPN - Emergency Department (ED) Clerk functions in a dual role, providing both clerical support and direct patient care within the LPN scope of practice under the supervision of an RN or provider.

This position supports efficient ED operations and patient throughput by performing unit clerk responsibilities (managing the tracking board, processing orders, coordinating communication, and maintaining accurate documentation in the EMR) while also delivering basic clinical care, including obtaining vital signs, performing focused assessments, administering medications as permitted, collecting specimens, assisting with procedures, and reporting changes in patient condition.

The ideal candidate holds a current Louisiana LPN license, BLS certification (ACLS/PALS preferred), and demonstrates strong organizational, communication, and multitasking skills in a fast-paced emergency care environment, with the ability to flex between clerical and clinical responsibilities based on departmental needs.
