o APPs function with oversight as needed by the physicians. Essentially if the APP has a question about a patient, the APP can discuss it with the physician. NO fast-track area at this time.
o All APPs work in the main ED (no fast track) for the entire 12-hour shift. APPs provide 24-hour coverage.
• Census:
o ED Volume: 60k
o Admission rate: 24-28%
• Support Staff:
o Specialty backup: General surgery, CT surgery, ortho, ENT, cardiology, interventional cardiology, pulmonologist, psych, OB/GYN, hem/onc, intensivist, plastic surgery, dermatology, Peds. There is neuro subspecialty, but not neurosurgery.
o Scribe Support and APPs on staff: 48hours/day physician coverage, 36/day APP coverage. Scribes are dedicated to physician shifts.
• Procedures:
o Main procedures include laceration repairs and I&Ds. Other procedures including intubation, central lines, and chest tubes are done by the physicians. If APPs wish to perform these, they must be done with direct physician supervision per bylaws.

• Requirements:
o Must have KY license and DEA at time of presentation
o Must have clean malpractice/background
o Must send self-query NPDB if EPA has a negative yes or pending response
o Must be able to workday and night shifts
o MUST HAVE at least 2 year2 experience working in the ED. MUST also be comfortable seeing critically ill patients in a very busy department
o Must Health requirements: TB, Flu, and drug screening have 24 months of case logs and CMEs
o Willing to accept NPs and PAs for this job opening.
