Maintenance Technician

Job Summary: Maintains the interior and exterior of all the Southeast NorthStar Care Community professional locations, assuring compliance with state and federal regulatory agencies.

Essential Functions:

  • Performs custodial duties, if needed.
  • Performs painting services when required by Facilities Manager.
  • Performs light maintenance duties.
  • Helps set up offices, conference room, as requested.
  • Assists with the exterior maintenance of garden areas, parking lots, driveways and other areas on the property; snow removal, when needed.
  • Inspects alarm systems (fire, protection) and schedule repairs when needed.
  • Performs manual repairs when necessary (fixes locks, door knobs, cabinetry, hinges, etc.).
  • Oversees maintenance of HVAC.
  • Conducts general upkeep procedures (e.g. landscaping) and other tasks as assigned (painting, carpentry etc.).
  • Assists in monitoring work being performed by outside contractors.
  • Attends meetings and in-services.
  • Assists the facility management team with quality improvement surveys.
  • Adheres to organizational Code of Conduct, policies and procedures and all regulatory and legal requirements.
  • Adheres to C.A.R.E. Model of Service: courtesy, acknowledgement, response and empathy.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of a high school diploma or GED required.
  • One to two (1 - 2) years' housekeeping or custodial experience preferred, preferably in health care.
  • Ability to lift and maneuver housekeeping, safety and floor care equipment up to 50 pounds.
  • Professional attitude and appearance.
  • Must be able to perform required duties in a safe, efficient, and professional manner.
  • Must be proactive and possess a strong aptitude for detail, accuracy and follow-through.
  • Must possess excellent interpersonal skills, sound judgment, effective organizational, prioritization and follow-through skills, attention to detail, tact, dependability, emotional intelligence and the ability to promote positive, constructive relationships with communication and collaboration at all levels with the ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • The physical demands of the position include: vision, effective speech and hearing for extensive telephone contact; repetitive motion; traveling; driving or riding in motor vehicle; standing, sitting, walking, bending, reaching, and stretching; lifting up to fifty (50) pounds unassisted.
  • Must have reliable transportation.
