Summary

Manage accounting operations for lower and moderate risk areas as assigned, including review/approval of journal entries and account reconciliations, review of financial statements and financial reporting packages, and facilitating audit requirements. Perform all Accounting responsibilities as it relates to higher risk, complex areas as assigned, including analysis, journal entries, reconciliations, reporting, and audit requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Manage Accounting Operations for low & moderate risk areas as assigned:
    • Maintain thorough understanding of assigned areas, including any relevant legal agreements, business processes, and systems, to ensure accurate financial statement presentation
    • Review and approve manual journal entries within SAP
    • Review and approve GL account reconciliations for accuracy, completeness and appropriate supporting documentation
    • Ensure all closing steps and journal entries are complete and posted prior to final GL close
    • Review preliminary monthly financial statements, investigate potential issues, and resolve prior to final GL close
    • Investigate, troubleshoot, and resolve issues raised by senior accountants in lower & moderate risk areas
  • Perform Monthly and Quarterly Accounting close responsibilities for higher risk/complex areas as assigned:
    • Maintain thorough understanding of IFRS accounting guidance and DSI business, including relevant legal agreements and business processes to ensure accurate financial statement presentation
    • Develop two-way relationships with business partners in areas impacting accounting responsibilities and understand upcoming changes that will impact it
    • Obtain relevant financial data and reporting from respective groups, analyze impact to financial statements
    • Prepare journal entries using SAP and/or Winshuttle, ensuring appropriate support is included and reconcile respective GL accounts to supporting schedules
    • Analyze balances to ensure accuracy of the General Ledger
  • Perform and review quarterly reporting for DS Japan
    • On a quarterly basis, prepare additional schedules for assigned high risk/complex areas.
    • Develop and maintain all required reports to support the quarterly submissions
    • Review Japan reporting schedules for low and moderate risk areas as assigned
    • Address questions received from DS Japan Finance & Accounting team
  • Support audit requirements:
    • Maintain and update internal control narrative documentation and perform process walk-throughs with Internal Audit
    • Provide Internal Audit with evidence supporting J-Sox controls
    • Support the Team Leader of Accounting in providing External Audit supporting document requests, ensuring all documentation properly supports testing areas for Quarterly Reviews and Annual Audit
    • Prepare External Audit flux analysis on quarterly basis for both Balance Sheet and P&L
  • Other Responsibilities:
    • Research and maintain current knowledge of most recent accounting pronouncements
    • Evaluate current processes and provide recommendations to the Director, Technical Accounting for potential process improvements
    • Assist Team Leader of Accounting with technical accounting requests and whitepaper preparation
    • Participate in special projects that impact your scope of responsibility



Qualifications: Successful candidates will be able to meet the qualifications below with or without a reasonable accommodation.

Education Qualifications (from an accredited college or university)

  • Bachelor's Degree Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required
  • Master's Degree Advanced degree in Accounting or Finance preferred


Experience Qualifications

  • 4 or More Years 5-7 years of Accounting or Auditing experience preferred required
  • 4 or More Years Prior experience with IFRS preferred


Licenses and Certifications

  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) CPA or other relevant certification Upon Hire preferred


Travel

Ability to travel up to 5% Minimal travel to attend relevant conferences/seminars
