Medical Care Tech I

Summary:

Assists and provides care in treatment of emergency and urgent care patients in accordance with established policies and procedures. Performs various activities such as taking patient's vital signs, specimen collection, EKG and blood collection as required. Performs clerical duties through manual and computer applications.

Education Requirement:

Successful completion of an approved EMT, Medical Corpsman, Medical Assistant or equivalent healthcare training program or qualified by education, training or experience to work with the adolescent, adult and/or geriatric patient population as specialty assignment dictates preferred.

Experience Requirement:

Previous experience as a Medical Corpsman, Basic EMT, Medical Assistant or equivalent healthcare experience working in the emergency department to include: patient service clerk, patient attendant, patient transport, EKG testing, blood/specimen collection, data entry, and maintaining sterile environment and infection control practices preferred.

Licensure/Certification Requirement:

Current CPR/BLS certification required. Licensed Basic EMT, Certified Nurse Assistant, or Medical Assistant preferred.
